Testing the waters....

This is a picture of some of the watercolors that I have done and I thought it was time to share them with you. It is part of what I call my "Journey" series.

The top left is a barn in Pennsylvania that I saw when I was on a trip with my dearest friend. The day was a bit drippy and dreary. The road was two lanes with hardly any shoulder. When we saw the barn in the distance we turned onto a small road so we could admire it, which eventually resulted in this painting.

The painting on the bottom is of a road in Virginia near my dearest friends' home. This is a place where the road turns a reddish color and for me is a reminder that we are getting near her home.

The top middle is my favorite painting of Lake Tahoe. The small one is of a spot on the road that circles Lake Tahoe. I have always been a lover of rocks and I especially love the ones in that area.

Yesterday I went through the process necessary to unload the pictures from my new camera onto the computer. First, I went around taking pictures to unload. When I saw this one I thought, "I could post this one and maybe find out if what family and friends say is only because they love me. They think I am brilliant. There were also a bunch of strangers who I was told thought so too when I was unable to attend a showing of some of my work. I even amaze myself sometimes. Perhaps your comments will encourage me to get back to painting.

  1. Your paintings are truly amazing. I can't help but wonder if you wouldn't enjoy teaching water color painting classes.

  3. Yes, show them closer... each one is deserving of it's own post and will really showcase their beauty. These paintings are amazingly wonderful, and I wouldn't say that unless I meant it.

  7. Boy they look impressive from a distance--I'd love to see a photo of one up close. Do you have any shots like that? My mother is an artist and I've grown up around watercolors just enough to appreciate how hard they are.

  9. I am so glad you did this! They really are GREAT! So much realism. And I know that takes skill when you are working in watercolor. Beautiful!

I can't imagine why you would ever not keep painting, AND showing your work. This is obviously a talent.

    :)

(Also, people can left double click on the pic, and and it will show bigger, so you can get a good look. ;) )

  10. Thank you all for your positive comments. Plus.....

marsha-I hadn't thought about teaching. I don't know that I have what it takes to teach. Thanks for the help in your second comment.

einar-Thanks for stopping by. I will be experimentng with my camera as well as scanning some of my other unframed work directly.

lucky-I know you wouldn't Sweetie. You are just like your mother in that respect!

meno-Well, now that you've put it that way, I guess I am!

nitz-The thought of parting with any of my paintings has kept me from selling any of them. If I figure out how to clone them I might be able to do so.

scribbit-I wonder if your mother would have any advice for me?

amber-I had hoped to do just as you suggested but, instead allowed other 'stuff' to get in the way. It has only been about ten years that I have been doing watercolors in fits and spurts.

  20. Mother you have always had a nack for anything related to art, and these is no exception. I still remember the class projects we would do together the canoe out of calligraphy paper dyed from coffee to make it brown tan and sticks we found in the yard with blue and white oil paint swirled around to make the river. The way we used coffee ground and elmers glue to make the ruff dirt in the paths. You have alway had a great imagination for these things. And I love you for that. But most off I just love you.
